Railway City Improv

Good questions welcome

Everything you need before you say “Yes, And.”

Classes are beginner-friendly, performance is optional, and the live schedule always carries the current price, venue, and dates.

Starting improv

I have no performing experience and I’m shy. Is improv still for me?

Absolutely. Most students begin with zero experience. Our classes introduce listening, accepting offers, and being present step by step in a supportive environment.

Do I have to perform for an audience?

No. Public performance is optional. Class is a learning environment, and your comfort level is respected.

What should I wear or bring?

Wear comfortable clothes you can move in, dress in layers, and bring a water bottle and an open mind. No scripts or special equipment are needed.

Is improv only about being funny?

No. Laughter is a welcome side effect; the core work is listening, collaboration, storytelling, spontaneity, and authentic response.

Well-being & confidence

Can improv help with social anxiety or perfectionism?

Improv can be a low-pressure way to practise social skills, tolerate uncertainty, and treat mistakes as useful offers. It may have therapeutic benefits, but it is not a substitute for professional clinical care.

How does “Yes, And” help outside comedy?

“Yes” accepts what is present; “And” adds something constructive. In daily life that supports better collaboration, less blocking, and more adaptive responses to change.

How do you create a supportive environment?

Facilitators prioritize non-judgement, active listening, mutual support, challenge by choice, and the idea that mistakes are gifts the group can build on.

Logistics & enrollment

How long are classes?

Offerings vary by term. A common introductory format is six weekly two-hour sessions. The live class listing is the authority for current dates, duration, and price.

What does a course cost?

Pricing varies by offering. The existing Fundamentals benchmark is $280 plus HST for a six-week course; always confirm the current amount on the class listing before checkout.

What is the refund policy?

Course fees are generally non-refundable within two weeks of the start date because venue and facilitator costs are committed. Cancelled courses are refunded; rescheduled courses include a refund option after the final decision.

Where are classes held?

Current London venues include Bizbio Studio and St. Paul’s Cathedral. Check the class listing and Locations page for the venue attached to your session.

Careers & organizations

How can improv help my career in the age of AI?

It trains human skills that remain scarce: active listening, creative problem-solving, clear spontaneous communication, presence, collaboration, and confidence under pressure.

Do you offer corporate team building and onboarding?

Yes. We design applied-improv workshops for team communication, trust, onboarding, leadership, collaboration, and adaptive capacity. No acting experience is needed.

Can you come to our office?

Yes. Corporate sessions can run at your workplace or at an arranged off-site location. We mainly need an open space that allows people to move comfortably.
